This site was created to provide you with an opportunity to further explore tools to provide students with a voice in your classroom and create your own classroom applications. We will work through these challenges to help you see how to create engaging activities for your students.

INTRODUCTORY TASK - Create your theme song
Together we are going to explore GarageBand. Get out your iPads and let's create our Jam! Using Garageband, create your teacher theme song. This is your walk in music. Show the world what your jam is! The song should be at least 30 seconds in length. You can work with a partner or small groups to collaborate, but each of you should create your own musical masterpiece! Your song should include the following:

Complete the following: Using the text document you created in Pages you change your settings to allow your iPad to read the text to you. This can be a great tool for students to allow them to overcome some of the barriers of information acquisition. This does not replace reading development, but could be a useful tool to bridge a gap for some students. |
To utilize the text to speech feature, use the following instructions to change your iPad settings to allow speech to text .

Explore Alternative Communication Tools Complete at least 2 of the following: 1. Create a conversation between two historical figures, book characters etc. examining a key concept. 2. Share your biggest takeaways from the Student Voice learning activities using Fake Tweet or Fake Texts (140 character limit) 3. Create a fakebook page for a book character, important figure, organization, geographic location, presidential candidate, etc. |

CLIPS
CHALLENGE 6
Working in small groups complete one of the following science activities. Light Project Density Activity While completing the activity you will record your efforts using Clips. Your video will include an overview of the activity, a hypothesis of what you think will happen, with the density activity you will include how much you need to add to the second glass to achieve the required results, and finally a reflection of what you learned from doing the activity. |

Trading Cards With Google Forms and Slides
CHALLENGE 7
Trading Cards can be a great way to demonstrate important information or concepts. The form below is designed to allow the user to enter text and create a uniform looking trading card. Complete the form and through the use of a mail merge add on the trading card is created. |

Complete 1 of the following: A. Diagram a cell and explain what each part of the cell does. B. Solve the following math problem - THE BAT & THE BALLA bat and a ball cost one dollar and ten cents in total. The bat costs a dollar more than the ball. How much does the ball cost? C. Solve the following math problem - THE LILY PAD PROBLEM In a lake, there is a patch of lily pads. Every day, the patch doubles in size. If it takes 48 days for the patch to cover the entire lake, how long would it take for the patch to cover half of the lake? |

Podcast Examples
Choose a partner or work individually and create a 3-5 minute Podcast on one of the following:
A. Introduction to your classroom environment or school for next year's students
B. Sharapalooza, a podcast about the amazing things that happened in your classroom this year.
C. Discuss with your partner ways you could include Podcasts into your learning activities, both how you could create and what topics students could use to create their own Podcasts.
D. In the role of your students, create a Podcast that answers the question What If... and choose a topic to discuss like, what if Columbus had never discovered the west? or what if your school took away recess?
E. In the role of your students, create a Podcast about the learning activities that they participate in. Think about a topic that could be a series of Podcasts. Examples could be book reviews, PBIS rules for the classroom or school, weekly reflections, TED talks about what inspires them or they are passionate about, etc.
F. Attitude of Gratitude in the role of your students discuss things you are grateful for that happen in your school. Thank your peers, teachers, parents, other staff who you have noticed doing something to make the school a better place, help someone out, make their day a little easier, etc.
G. Classroom Podcast - Create your own communication to parents sharing what has happened in your class this week. Don't forget to include "ask your student about..." prompt to get parents and students talking about the activities in your classroom. Alternatively, compile some examples of your student's examples into one Podcast that you share weekly or biweekly with parents.
